BEFORE + AFTER: Quick Removing Objects Tutorial
THIS IS A NEED TO KNOW TOOL! This will show you how to better remove those annoying distractions in your photos — like unwanted rain puddles during these bride + groom portraits. Lightroom has the spot removal brush but sometimes it just doesn’t do the trick.
I do recommend that you make all the edits you want to your photo before doing this trick — especially if you’re like me and you like to create copies of images for your B+W edits.
When you right click on your photo in Lightroom, a drop down menu shows up. Scroll down to “Edit In” and select Photoshop.
Photoshop will open and it may ask you if you want to change the color codes. Select the option that doesn’t change your color codes. (It may not ask you this at all — but mine does)
Once you’re in photoshop, you can select the healing tool (on the right side — it looks like a band-aid), set your brush size, make sure you have Content Aware selected, and you’re good to go! Paint over everything you want to get rid of.
When you are finished just click “Command-S” to save or “File” - “Save” and your new image should appear as a copy in Lightroom.
Watch the quick video below to see how easy it was for me to go from puddles everywhere + cracks in the concrete, to a beautiful distraction-less image. :)
You will see in the video that sometimes you may have to go over a certain spot more than once to get the outcome you want, that’s ok - just play with it and remember you always have the undo button!
